The 1st US Company D Infantry, Regulars is a reenactment group
organized to recreate the life of the Civil War soldier in the
Arizona Territory of the 1860’s. These Brave men and women who
filled the ranks as loyal Americans during the Civil War gave
the ultimate sacrifice, to give their lives for the freedoms of
this great country, and to preserve the Union that our
forefathers fought for against the English loyalists.
Join in the exciting world of Reenacting with the 1st US Company
D, “The Fighting First”.
As Member of the Arizona Civil War Council, (ACWC) we join with
Union and Confederate re-enactors throughout the Great State of
Arizona, and it’s sister states of New Mexico, California, Utah
and those Hallowed Battlefields of the Eastern Theater to
organize events and encourage activities throughout the state.
Company D participates in reenactments of Civil War events and
living history throughout the area defended by the “The Fighting
First”. Our major focus is educating those that wish to learn
about the Civil War and all its glory including the furthermost
most skirmish battle that took place in the Arizona territory
known as the “The Battle of Picacho Pass” at Picacho Peak. As
the North’s loyal defenders during the Civil War, we also
participate in Regional and National events.
Our members include young and old, men, women and children in
which, we all portray a variety of authentic impressions. As a
member of the “Fighting First” Infantry group, you’ll be given
the school of soldiering with the group, learning the various
commands of the soldier. We will guide you down the road to the
past, so that you and your family will enjoy the Living History
of those hard and cruel times during the Civil War.
Most importantly, we love to have fun and enrich your life!
Taking that first step into the past.
The 1st US Company D, is an incorporated volunteer organization
with monthly meetings held throughout the Valley at various
locations. With open arms, we welcome you and will be glad to
discuss, and show you what this hobby holds for you and your
family. Reenacting will require a few things which you will need
including uniforms, weapons, and gear. This list of equipment has
been conveniently place on the web for your guidance and various
choices. As a member of the 1st US Company D, you will learn
about Civil War era drill, uniforms, military custom, weapon
skills and safety, the most important part of the hobby. With
camp skills, cooking, and period songs. You and your family will
enjoy the historical surroundings of camp life both at the fort
and campaign style. While we strive for reasonable authenticity,
we are not "hard core." Our objectives, in priority order, are
safety, fun, and authenticity. These objectives are not in
conflict.
